The Westboro Baptist Church's Greatest Hits (including a nod to Lady Gaga)

We were pretty excited about the new Louis Theroux documentary with the most hated family in America, namely the Westboro Baptist church, not least because of their tuneful way of condensing unprecedented levels of bile and hate into popular song covers. Here’s a clip from 2007:

“God Hates The World” a modern Christian take on “We Are World”. Brilliant in its lunacy – particularly the shout “you know he hates you!” at 2.07. The boys look a little sheepish, but the women are really going for it with, of course, big smiles on their face at their horrid messages. They loved it so much though that they went on to perform a number of other hits. Including…

1) God Hates Lady Gaga:

Now this parody of Lady Gaga promises so much, and it delivers! See their verbal dexterity as they change “Poker Face” to “Whorish Face”. The strange thing is they seem to really love making this video…and with the tribute graphics and dancing we think they definitely dig Gaga behind closed bedroom doors:

2) Big Fibbin:

A send up of Jay Z’s Big Pimpin. Not as good, but the young ones still have time to leave the evil craft of the family:

3) Read it

The worst sung, but for us the catchiest idea the Westboro Church have come up with. The best bit about this is the guy clearly things he is a good singer and secretly harbours for his time in the limelight. Too bad fella, this cult has the crazy lionesses at the front.

Any more brilliance then drop us a note in the comments. We just can’t get enough of them.

  1. It’s them who may burn in hell
I really doubt that God wants all gays and people
who express themselves through music to die!

  2. Their version of “Crazy Train”!!

  3. What are Fred Phelps and the WBC afraid of? Rainbows? Unicorns? A flaming pink queer apocalypse? I attempted to address this with a portrait of the good reverend on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/03/fred-phelps-and-westboro-baptist-church.html Drop in and let me know what you think!

  4. It makes me almost embarrassed to say I am a Christian. This is not the God I know and Love and worship. Jesus preached against people like this, people who think they are ok and love to point out the failings of other people. I think he called them hypocrites.
