Susan Boyle’s cover of Perfect Day must have Lou Reed turning in his grave. Wrong! He’s actually helped her make it and of course he’s alive.
This is all a bit strange as recently SuBo was slagging him off for blocking her from singing it when she appeared on America’s Got Talent. He seems to have come round to her charms though now.
“I wanted to create a beautiful and intimate piece shot in Susan’s native Scotland and she quickly agreed” – he says about the video.
He was clearly going for a sort of Centre Parks advert with The Hairy Angel in the middle. He’s missed the mark though. The video is unintentionally sinister – SuBo hanging around a deserted land in black gloves. I couldn’t help think at the start that SuBo had thrown a body in the lake and was darkly singing to her deceased victim about their “Perfect Day”.
The problem with the song itself it’s all a bit obvious. It’s been sung by just about everyone, and its unclear what Boyle adds.
It did strike me she’s looking incredibly similar to Gordon Brown in this video though, which kept me watching.
