Simon Cowell likes to thing of himself as Jesus – but they do have one similarity, namely that little about their life is documented before they turned 30. However, we recently came across this old clip that shows his TV Debut on the old British gameshow “Sale of the Century”.
Wow! Even back then he had the same mannerisms though he doesn’t seem to feel quite as comfortable in front of the camera, rocking a bit on his chair, when he knows he won’t be the one who has ultimate control over the editing. The episode was shot in 1990, so at this point he would have been 31 and still working all hours to try to transform himself into the music mogul we all know now. Interestingly this is just 2 years after the company, Fanfare, fell into bankruptcy. Fanfare was the company he had set up with business partner Iain Burton, taking a gamble on himself by leaving a good job at EMI. When it all went tits up he ended up moving back in with his parents. What we see here then is a newly resurgent resurgent Simon Cowell, so perhaps those prizes mean more to him than you would think at first sight.Poor Barbara though – we wonder if she watches the X Factor with gritted teeth.
