When Rihanna came on out the X Factor final it our first thought was “Is that Whitney Houston?”:
Well now she’s emulating more than her look by achieving extreme chart success. This week she’s set to topple Matt Cardle form the number one spot with her single “What’s My Name?” It features Drake and was released way back when in November, but the track has been growing steadily in popularity, no doubt helped by her performance with Matt in front of the nation.
Her past four number one’s where Umbrella (2007), Take a Bow (2008), Run this Town (2009), Only Girl in the World (2010). So this will make it her fifth number one, making her the first female artist to score the big five across consecutive years.
Meanwhile in the album chart it looks like she’s going to be bumped into the runner position as Plan B’s “The Defamation of Strikland Banks” is similarly having a bit of a resurgence, looking set to head back to number one. Still, we’re not quite as excited about this one.

Now…who on this planet or possible within our solar system would even remotely have the unmitigated gall to mention both Rihanna and Whitney Houston in the same paragraph, let alone the same sentence.
