We unanimously like Noel Gallagher in the TMM office…but we’re pretty much split on Liam, with a slight wavering towards seeing him as a bit of a tool. For me, to get away with the swagger that the brothers have you need to show a lot of intelligence is lingering just under the surface – Noel has this, whether Liam does or not is something we can’t quite agree on.
His latest comments are again proving to be fairly controversial. Speaking about Noel’s return he said to Uncut:
“I’m sure it will be all very civilised and grown-up. One of those gigs you can really stroke your chin at. With four rent-a-Scousers wearing shell-suits…I’ve heard his fucking new record ‘cos I fucking sang on half of it. When I was in America for ‘Dig Out Your Soul’. And he swiped some off ‘cos he obviously knew he wanted to do a solo album. So he can talk all the bullshit about, ‘Oh, I was intimidated,’ and all that. Fucking nonsense.”
Further, when speaking to Mojo he ruled out any possibility of Oasis getting back together. Well, actually he did a bit more than that. When asked about Alan McGee’s comments that Oasis would reform he had this to say:
“A couple of little c*nts moaning on the f*cking internet going, ‘Oh it isn’t f*cking Oasis,’ aren’t going to bother me….It’s like wanting your girlfriend back after she’s f*cked you off. You’ll end up getting yourself ill.”
For all his seeming verbal diarrhoea though, Liam might know what he’s doing. He has an album coming out late February, and I just can’t resist giving him free press in the run up when he keeps on giving up quotes like this. After all these years I still cant figure out if he’s a genius or an idiot. I guess the test will be whether he can reignite the dangerous air of Oasis’ height, or whether he just ends up looking like an needy, attention seeking “has been” by the public.
