Before we do anything else, here’s Lady Gaga’s track “Born this way so you can listen here before we have any chance to spoil it for you (then scroll down as below we’ve found quite a nifty side by side with Madonna’s “Express Yourself ” which made us laugh).

The main criticism going around though has that she’s been copying Madonna, and we couldn’t really understand where people are coming from at first…but then we listened to this:

OK. SO Gaga sounds a bit like Madonna, that’s nothing new. Ignoring that though what do we think of the song itself?.
Well for months this has been hyped and hyped, and at the last minute Lady Gaga brought it forward a couple of days. Apparently the production has been chopped and changed right up to the last miunte, before deciding on this more disco rather than club sound. While we think we would have preferred the latter, we’re still not disappointed with the result. It does seem to take away from Lady Gaga’s darker edge though, which was almost inevitable as she enters her second phase as a global phenomenon – eventually anyone in the spotlight as much as her will have to give away their mystery.
The “Put Your Paws Up” references were nice touches that she’s been saying to all those “Little Monsters” (as she is tribally calling her fans) who went along to the Monster Ball.
It’s by no means our favourite Lady Gaga song, but its still good and after the barrage of radio play that is no doubt about to follow, we think we might be indoctrinated enough to make in our to five songs of the year.
