Now Calvin Harris is no stranger to kick offs on Twitter (he once called BPI staff “massive retards” before obviously being informed that was a huge dick thing to say and making a swift apology)…but this time he’s been in a little spat with none other than Katy Perry. Here’s how it unfolded:
Katy: “FYI ALL UK & IRELAND RELATED SHOWS @CalvinHarris will NOT be joining in on the fun and has CANCELLED last minute.”
Calvin: “Sorry to all who wanted to see me with Katy – her team suddenly moved the goalposts, and i was to appear on stage with no production.”
Calvin: “It would have looked shit, sounded shit – trust me you would have been more disappointed SEEING the show than u are with me cancelling.”
Calvin: Her show is AWESOME, you’ll all have an amazing time without me. (especially w/o me DJing on a cardboard box in front of a pink curtain)
Calvin: “That’s the honest truth”
Katy: “@CalvinHarris …funny the goal post seems to be perfectly fine for New Young Pony Club, Yelle, Robyn, Marina & The Diamonds to name a few.”
Katy: “@CalvinHarris or how bout Janell Monae and her 16 piece band… Etc… it’s fine, I’m used to you canceling on me, it’s become ur staple!”

Now some tension could have been detected under the surface between these two a little while back. Calvin himself admitted he was really happy when the idea of the pair working together was put on the table…though he had to tag on one of his customary sledgehammer comments – “she’s not up her own a**e the way a lot of these American popstars are.”
Despite this though there was apparently some difficulty with scheduling (which these tweets hint at), and Katy Perry told Razz that Calvin might be too much of a “big, fat star” to work with her.
It’ll be interesting to see who if anyone backs down first…the possibility of these two working together in the future might be fairly remote.
