Rarely do we like a video on first listen – but when Jay Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Bon Iver get together you know it’s got to be good. The video was darker than we had expected. Usually when you hear a music video is going to be horror based you get images of the Backstreet boys camping it up. This video is a bit cooler than that…even managing to make necrophilia look sexy.
Nicki Minaj looks totally at home in the video..we even imagine she just turned up at the video shoot suited, booted and ready to go.
The video really takes Kanye West up in our estimation. He’s managed to pick big stars not just because they are big, but because they are good and fit well with his style. In opting for Bon Iver he’s also shown an savvy ear for what will work and ready to go outside his own genre when he spots a talent. Aplause all round.
