Who? A Friend In London
Country? Denmark
Our Thoughts? Well if the leadsinger thinks his hair is going to make him stand out, he’s in for a shock when he sees Jedward’s mighty quiffs. Apart from this though New Tomorrow isn’t bad, but at the same time isn’t great and probably shouldn’t have been the first choice for Denmark (they had quite a strong field this year). While it starts off strong and perhaps even stands out as being a bit quirky it soon fades into be a weak anthem kind of song. A sort of Kaiser Chiefs mixed with High School Musical.
For our tastes it’s a bit too earnest and Bono-ish,which often doesn’t sit well with English audiences. It’s a protest song ideal that has been done to death. It will be interesting to see what the rest of Europe make of this one.
Chances? We reckon it will pick up high scoring points from lots of countries but not actually be favourite for many nations. It could put in a steady performance though that will place it top 5. If Blue finish behind this though we’ll join the Eurovision cynics who say there is a real problem with the voting system.
