Elton John has given a fairly pessimistic analysis of his current impact on pop music and has vowed not to release any more pop music.
At the age of 63 the pop legend commented he wasn’t going to be competing with “JLS or Lady Gaga”.
“I can’t sit down and do a proper rock song. It was ok when I was 25 or 26, but not anymore. I like to do my little side-projects like Scissor Sisters and have fun, but I don’t think Elton John will be putting any pop singles out.”
At the same time he has laid some vitriol, in characteristic style, on VH1 saying that it makes him “vomit”.
Could this really be the end of Elton John though? After all he is prone to the odd outburst and dramatic exaggerations…it’s part of what makes him so popular. If you don’t believe me listen to the lyrics of “This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore”.
True he’s been hitting out at the X Factor quite a lot recently too – and it seems like at the moment he’s at the end of his tether. However, don’t completely rule him our just yet.
