Channel 4′s alternative Christmas message has shown itself to be an extraordinarily well thought out subversive project. In the past they have attracted Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a Muslim lady in full dress and a British soldier from the Afghanistan conflict. When they have been less serious too they have managed to pick people who had an interesting spin on reality. For all her faults, Sharon Osbourne has experienced a fair bit in her time. Jamie Oliver was a bit of a low point…but at least he had ran a passionate campaign that was relevant to Christmas dinner time. I liked the idea.
Now though, Dappy, the chief idiot from N Dubz, is going to spew more of his thoughts to the nation as an alternative Christmas message. What message does this guy have to convey? It’s like the naughty kid in class getting lots of attention because he’s loud.
The big problem is Dappy is clearly being seen as some sort of representative of youth – which he’s not. This guy’s own idiocy is seen as some sort of common touch that patronises young people and views them as being akin to his faux-chav image.
So let’s have a look at what he’s got to say:
“The UK music scene is the strongest it has been for many years and recognised as being the most important in the world right now. I am happy that N-Dubz are a part of that movement. Our culture is still admired and emulated by people right over the globe, and rightly so.”
So he could have taken this opportunity to talk about the greatest threat to the advancement of UK music in recent years, The Digital Economy Act. He doesn’t and instead glosses over it saying all in rosy. How can an industry be in bad shape when it allows Dappy to flourish?
Dappy is no representative. He’s an in joke gone that went too far. Now others are laughing in the wrong way.

Who said Dappy ‘represents’ the youth of today? No one. His speech was actually interesting if you took the time to listen to it properly rather than judging him and laughing at him just because you don’t like him for whatever reason. He is not an idiot, he has made some mistakes, but everyone has made mistakes in their lives – his mistakes just get publicised because he is in the public eye. Sure, everyone has their own opinions but you don’t need to ridicule him.

It’s pretty obvious all you want to do is slag Dappy off, when in his message, he DID highlight the economy troubles, the budget and the war in Afghanistan. And I’m proud that he represents the young people of today, because although, yes, he’s a bit rough around the edges, but he shows that everyone comes from somewhere, and he’s gone from nothing, to being a third of one of the biggest bands to come out of the UK music scene in years that produce and write ALL their own stuff. Their new album gives the message that you should appreciate what you do have (as he also highlighted in his message) and that there are people out there with so much less. So before you go badmouthing people that you dont even know the slightest about, DO SOME RESEARCH. You’re on a music magazine website you should know what you’re talking about!

actually, he did talk about the economy, and how we shouldn’t moan about our lives when there are people in other parts of the world who dream of free education and healthcare.
so maybe you should have waited til the message was broadcast before you start making ridiculous assumptions!

I’m ashamed we have in our country, idiots like ‘barber’ who write such utterly pointless negative articles.
Dappy is not an idiot at all, he has an A* in English, lets get that one sorted first!!
His Christmas message was well delivered and was actually quite interesting and thought-provoking. He had clearly put the time and effort into it and I for one are proud of him for doing that.
He could of used the time to shamelessly plug his own band, but he didn’t, he talked intelligently about the UK’s school system and economy and couldn’t have spoke more highly of our British troops.
Its easy to slag him off but I’m sure whichever loser wrote this article wouldn’t have been able to do a 5 minute slot with a good few 100,000 people watching !!!

Looks like your pathetic attempt at trying to slag Dappy off and get people to laugh at him with you failed. Look at everyone disagreeing with you! DAPPY IS AMAZING, say no more.

BARBER wow you might not be the only “single voice” but ever think that those idoits writing thoses silly little nasty comments actually have nothing better to do with their time and are perhaps jealous of what n dubz have achieved.
He has clearly worked very hard to get to where he is now, maybe if you put some effort in to you’re work like he does you may also be a house hold name, but clearly you havent put in the work have you!
the artical was pathetic and clearly “im not exactly a single voice here” either
