Cheryl Cole Misses Out on Top US X Factor USA 2011 Role

Cheryl Cole X Factor

Well that’s it then…after so much speculation that Cheryl Cole will land herself a judging position on the X Factor USA 2011, it seems like it’s all over. There had been wrangling about whether she would give up her regional accent for the American audience (and apparently i’ts a regulatory offence over there to have an accent that viewers can’t understand), which sort of casted doubt.

However, reports now coming out are saying she hasn’t landed the top job and will instead be given an advisory position (the sort of buddy at the judges houses role that the likes of Ronan Keating, Sinnitta and Will.i.am had on the UK version).

This is a pretty big blow to her US ambitions. Here’s what was said by a source to The Daily Star:

“People just don’t know who she is over there and people struggle to understand what she is saying.

Simon is consoling her with the offer of helping him win the first series, which would give her profile a massive boost.”

Not sure whether to be happy or sad about this. Obviously it’s always good to see a Brit do well in the States, but the quickness with which she gave up her role on the UK X Factor was pretty staggering.

It appears Simon had been pushing really hard for her to get the job, but has lost out after TV bosses remained wary despite his best efforts to reassure them.

Girls Aloud reunion on the cards?

  1. I think it’s the right decision. Having lived in the US for many years, I really don’t feel she was right. No onen knows her there and her accent would be a problem. If they are to compete with American Idol, they need some high profile judges.

  2. She can’t have everything :-)

  3. THIS IS GOOD. I don’t like the idea of Cheryl Cole being a judge on X Factor U.S. I hope this rumour is true and that she isn’t going to be a judge. I don’t care if she has an advisory position (eg. Will.i.am) that I can deal with. It’s not right for her to be a judge on an American show. The U.S. has capable AMERICANS to judge a singing competition.

  4. i really really want her to have her job back on the uk x factor it will be so boring without her .. i will not watch it anymore when she has gone she is the main priority she is my idol and i would love to meet her im glad to hear that she is staying in the uk loveyouu so much cheryll <3 xxxx
