Bobby Farrell From Boney M Passes Away

Some really sad news today – it has just been reported Boney M’s Bobby Farrell passed last night while staying at a St Petersburg hotel. Like the true pop legend he was he went out with a last performance last night even thought his agent, John Seine, said he had been complaining of breathing difficulties before and after the show.

Born as Roberto ‘Bobby’ Alfonso Farrell, he achieved huge success being the only male member of the four piece Boney M.  He was more of a talisman for the group, dancing and generally performing rather than actually getting involved in too much singing. After four years together the group finally broke through with their single “Daddy Cool” is 1978 – and in the same year their version of “By The Rivers of Babylon” sold over 2 million copies.

After the group split up in 1986 he continued to perform with various female backing singers – but always kept up his stylish image.

Spare him a thought at New Years…you won’t forget as one of his songs is bound to be on.

  1. Boney M are the best personally i really cherish their music to the fullest. All their music are intriguing even in the 21 century, my best tracks are rivers of babylon, mary’s boy child, plantation boy and brown girl in the ring
