Blue: I Can – England's Eurovision Entry 2011

Who? Blue. The best boyband of the early 2000s are back.

Country? UK

Our Thoughts? We’re trying not to be biased here, but I Can is a really well put together pop song and the boys know exactly what they’re doing. Unlike many bands of their ilk too the boys are brilliant live and have had years to polish their performance.

They’ve had the usual outrageous comments from Lee and an incident with Anthony pissing against a cash point in the run up to the show, but Europe will have luckily missed all this.

We’ve had some harsh things to say about them in the run up. Now it’s come to the day though we feel all protective over them. It’s like complaining about your family – you can do it, but if someone else has a go at them you’ll defend them to the death.

The song is up tempo pop, which is in contrast to lots of the other front runners (take for example France’s classical number), so they should have a fairly easy way to stand out. Usually this song would be at risk from blending in to the point of obscurity, but this style will actually be a strength.

Chances? Well they are the fourth most likely to win according to the bookies. However, we reckon, even putting down our flag for a second, that they’re most likely to win. There’s lots of talk about how we’ll never win votes because Eastern European countries will never vote for the us. However, we should remember we did come fifth with Jade Ewen’s It’s My Time just two years ago, and Germany managed to overcome this obstacle last year.
