Arcade Fire Hook Up With David Byrne For The Suburbs Re-Release

David Byrne

David Byrne is a bit of a hero at TMM. The Talking Heads frontman hasn’t really made it into the mainstream since he provided vocals for X-Press 2 on the 2002 hit Lazy.  However, now he’s set to come back and show a whole new generation how good he is as Arcade Fire will be featuring him on their new track Speaking in Tongues, which will be released as part of an extended version of their album The Suburbs. For fact hunters the song has the same title as a Talking Heads album from 1983.

If there’s anyone not coming with us on how exciting this is, check out this video of David Byrne performing Life During Wartime and try not to be in awe at the dance moves.

You know that will be coming out at your next Christmas party.

Apart from this, the re-release will also feature new track Culture War and a longer version of Wasted Hours (A Life That We Can Live). Strangely though it will also feature a behind the scene documentary and an 80 page booklet! We reckon it will be pretty heavy on pictures though for those that are book shy.

It will also feature a short film directed by Spike Jonze. It looks uber emotional and stylised – making the plot seem a bit like Dawson’s Creek during war time. We’re fairly sure it will be brilliant though. Here’s the trailer:

This give us a pretty big dilemma.Normally a deluxe edition of an album is just to squeeze money out of the hardcore fan base or to entice people who hadn’t bought the original. They’ve crammed so much into this though we’re seriously considering putting our hands in our pocket again for an album we basically already have.
