Adele Proves She Isn't Depressing After All

Adele

Poor Adele has had to deal with some rubbish perceptions about her. Firstly she as labelled as swimming in Amy Winehouse’s slip stream – the same sort of thing that was thrown at Duffy. Having put it beyond any doubt that she’s a cheap carbon copy she’s now getting some different feedback. The singer commented recently:

“I think people think I’m like, sort of a manic-depressive…I think they think I’m very sombre and very moody and take myself very seriously, but I think that’s just because of the kind of records I write…I’m no more depressed than any other 21 or 22 year-old girl when someone leaves them, you know?”

You can see where this has come from – her latest album was done mostly in the wake of what appeared to be a very painful breakup, and with her soulful voice that pain really come across – and incidentally it this type of mood that suits her voice best.

Still she’s got reason to be cheerful now. She’s just hit the to spot in the charts and is kicking off her US very soon where she has had rave reviews. We hope she doesn’t cheer up too much and start writing less intense stuff though…you know…just from a selfish point of view.
